Who i am
Hello and welcome. My name is Amber, and I am the daughter of a man who was wrongfully convicted and imprisoned for nearly thirty years (and counting).
This space is my story — and his. It’s about growing up in the shadow of a system that got it wrong, and learning how to live, love, and hope through decades of waiting for justice.
I’m here to share what it means to hold on to truth when the world stops believing you, and to give a voice to the families who serve silent sentences alongside their loved ones.
For as long as I can remember, my father’s name has lived behind bars. I was a child when he was convicted, too young to understand the courtroom, the verdict, or the silence that followed. But I grew up fast — in visiting rooms, on long drives to correctional facilities, and in a world that carried both hope and heartbreak.
For thirty years, I’ve watched the world move forward while our family stood still, fighting to prove what we always knew: my father is innocent.
This blog isn’t just about his story — it’s about what happens to the families left behind. It’s about resilience, identity, and the cost of injustice. It’s also about love — the kind that refuses to die, even when it’s tested by time, distance, and the cold reality of steel bars.
Today, I write to reclaim our narrative. To speak the truth we’ve carried for decades. To remind others that wrongful convictions don’t just destroy one life — they ripple through generations.
If you’ve ever lost faith in the system, or if you’re fighting to be heard, I hope my words remind you: you’re not alone.
